Class Length: 

1 night a week, 3 hours a night, for 3 weeks.

Class Description:   

The journeyman CAT-5 class is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to be able to install structured wiring systems that conform to the standards that apply.

Primary focus of study:

 

·        Requirements for connecting and cabling data cables (structured Wiring)

·        Color code (Wire organization)

·        Punch down procedures (Connectivity)

·        Proper use of  CAT-5 jacks, 66-blocks, and 110-blocks

·        Testing – Wire map and Fluke 4100 meter

·        Standards – ISO / ANSI / EIA/TIA

·        Installation methods (accepted practices ANSI/NEC)

 

Notes:

 

·        Your time will be divided between lecture and hands-on labs.

·        A written test is given on the last night.

·        A $50.00 deposit is due before classes start. Your attendance at all three classes as well as a passing grade on the final test is required for you to receive your deposit back.
